AC Milan midfielder Hakan Calhanoglu could be returning to the German Bundesliga, reports Calcio Mercato. The Turkish international has attracted the interest of RB Leipzig, Hertha Berlin and Schalke 04. A bidding war between the three clubs could benefit AC Milan, who are open to sell the former Bayer Leverkusen star.
Calhanoglu was signed by Milan in 2017 and the Italians had high expectations of the playmaker, comparing him to former greats as Rui Costa and Kaka. The Turk failed to live up to the high expectations, despite a good show of form over the past few weeks. It is believed Milan are open to sell Calhanoglu but only for the right price.
The midfielder’s contract is set to expire at the end of next season and Milan have not decided if they want to extend the deal. They could profit from the interest from the Bundesliga as the Italians hope to land at least €30m for Calhanoglu, who has made 127 appearances for the Rossoneri.
