Borussia Dortmund have marked OSC Lille forward Jonathan Ikone as the best option to replace Jadon Sancho, according to the Times. It is believed the Germans are ready to start negotiations for the €45m rated forward as soon as they have the feeling that a deal for Sancho is close.
The 22-year-old Ikone was signed by Lille in 2018 in a €5m move from Paris Saint-Germain. The left footed forward is able to play on both sides as well as in the centre of the pitch. This season he has played 28 games for Lille in the Ligue 1, scoring three goals and providing eight assists. He also earned his first four caps for France this season.
A move for Ikone could materialise once Manchester United push through their interest in Sancho. The Mancunians have been linked with the England forward for months but are unable to meet Dortmund’s demands in a €120m asking price. Dortmund and United have been exploring the possibilities of a transfer, but it is feared that Dortmund will be standing their ground.
