Liverpool are hoping that Georginio Wijnaldum will sign a new contract with the club this summer. The Dutch midfielder is an integral part of Jurgen Klopp’s side and he has made 36 appearances for the club in the Premier League. His current deal runs out in 2021 and Wijnaldum could decide to seek a new adventure outside of England.
Italian transfer expert Fabrizio Romano says that Liverpool are working hard trying to renew Wijnaldum’s deal with the club. While an agreement has not been on the cards of late, it seems likely that both Liverpool and Wijnaldum are nearing an agreement to extend his contract beyond 2021.
One of the reason for Wijnaldum to look for a move could be the potential arrival of Thiago Alcantara from Bayern Munich this summer. However, Romano claims that Liverpool are not anywhere near signing Thiago. It is believed that the Reds have not even made an official approach yet and there are still doubts Liverpool will even make a move for the Spaniard.
