Manchester United contact Real Madrid to hold talks for James Rodriguez

Manchester United want to bolster their squad this summer as the Mancunians want to close the gap with Manchester City and Liverpool in the Premier League. One of the areas United are looking to strengthen is the central midfield and despite signing Bruno Fernades in January, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer wants to sign a new midfielder.

Express have claimed that United have made contact with Real Madrid to sit down and hold talks for James Rodriguez to explore the possibilities. Rodriguez has been wanting out of Madrid since last summer and he has not played a single game since the return of football in June. It is believed Madrid are willing to sell Rodriguez for €25m

The 29-year-old Colombian joined Madrid in 2014 after a stunning World Cup in a €70m deal from AS Monaco. However, he has never managed to settle in at the Spanish giants, having also spent two seasons on loan at Bayern Munich. Last summer he was reportedly close to signing for Atletico Madrid but Real blocked the move at the final moment.
