Former Chelsea and Brazil star Oscar has said that he would be happy to gain the Chinese nationality to play for the national team. The 28-year-old has been playing for Shanghai SIPG in recent years and the midfielder has developed a big passion for the Asian country and if would be possible he would consider swapping nationalities.
The midfield playmaker has earned 47 caps for the Brazilian national team, scoring 12 goals. However, ever since his move to China he has been overlooked by the Selecao and he has not made an appearance for the national team. While FIFA rules prevent players to swap nationalities if they have appeared in a competitive fixture for one nation.
Oscar would like those rules to be changed. “Of course I can think about it because it’s difficult to go to the Brazil national team now because I’m here, but in China everyone sees how good I play. The China national team need one good midfielder, so I think I can help with this. I like China, but the players now who go to China to change their nationality, they can do better also.”
