Al-Sadd boss Xavi Hernandez has once again expressed his dream to manage his former club FC Barcelona in the future. The former midfielder could have been Barca’s coach already after the club made an approach in January. He declined as he felt he wasn’t ready to take on the job.
Speaking to Marca, Xavi said: “I do not hide, and I have always said it, that’s my main goal, when that happens, it is Barça. This is my home and it would be a dream. But now I’m focusing on Al Sadd, looking forward to the new season. When I have to come to Barça, short or long term, it will come. Above all, Quique Setién must be respected and I wish the team the best of luck.”
Recent speculations in Barcelona have added Xavi to the club’s shortlist if Quique Setien fails to win the Champions League. The current boss is under heavy pressure after losing the LaLiga title to Real Madrid despite a two-point lead at the beginning of the return of the league in June. Setien could be sacked if Barcelona won’t impress in the Champions League in August.
