Chelsea are hoping to reach an agreement with Bayer Leverkusen for Kai Havertz before the end of the week. Jacob Steinberg and Fabrizio Romano of The Guardian have reported that the Blues and Leverkusen have opened talks for the talented midfielder and are already nearing an agreement.
While Leverkusen hopes to keep Havertz until after their Europa League campaign, the swift negotiations with Chelsea are making that seem very unlikely. It is reported that Chelsea have made an initial €80m offer for Havertz which could rise to around €100m through a series of bonuses.
The club’s finances have been given a major boost after the club managed to secure a top four finish in the Premier League and thus Champions League football next season. After signing Hakim Ziyech from Ajax and Timo Werner from RB Leipzig, Havertz is looking to become Chelsea’s third major signing for next season.
