Manchester City ready to intensify their interest in Bournemouth defender Nathan Ake. The Daily Mail reports that City are keen on adding a new central defender to their ranks and that they have marked the Dutch international as the best option. City are reportedly keen on hearing Bournemouth’s valuation of Ake after they were relegated from the Premier League.
While City are determined to sell both Nicolas Otamendi and John Stones this summer, Pep Guardiola has urged his club to sign the versatile Ake. The former Chelsea player is able to play as a centre-back but has also played as a fullback, providing cover for Benjamin Mendy and Alexandr Zinchenko.
Originally Bournemouht demanded €45m for Ake, but City believe that this price has dropped since the Cherries dropped down to the Championship last week. Ake has spent three and a half seasons at Bournemouth, making 121 appearances and scoring 11 times. He has also been capped 11 times by the Dutch national team.
