Barcelona socios preparing ‘vote of no confidence’ against Bartomeu

A group of FC Barcelona socios want to launch a vote of no confidence against the current board of the club and especially against president Josep Maria Bartomeu. The plan was confirmed by one of the socios of the club on the Spanish radio station Cadena Ser.

“We need almost 18,000 signatures”, Josep María Cremada revealed the plan of his group. We are a transversal group, with no one behind us. The club’s management by the board is totally unacceptable, We already have between 2,000 and 5,000 signatures for the motion.”

The group of socios want to force the board to step down from their position as they are seen as the ones responsible for the club’s recent failures in in domestic and international competitions. Also, the board is heavily criticized for the transfers of the club over the past few seasons with signings like Philippe Coutinho, Ousmane Dembele and Antoine Griezmann.

Barcelona will have a presidential election in 2021 but the socios are ready to launch an attack on Bartomeu as soon as possible. The president is aware that there is a campaign against him, but source close to the club confirm that he will not be stepping down on his own. Former president Joan Laporta and Victor Font will both be running for president in 2021.
