Benzema says he would not trade his Champions Leagues for 2018 World Cup

Karim Benzema has revealed he would not trade his four Champions League trophy’s for the 2018 World Cup with France. The forward has been frozen out of the national team since 2016 due to his alleged involvement in the blackmailing of former France team-mate Mathieu Valbuena.

In a a video on YouTube Benzema insisted he would not swap his Champions League trophies for the World Cup. “No, not at all. I regret nothing. And what I’m most proud of is having been a champion at Real Madrid.” Benzema could be winning his fifth Champions League with Real Madrid this season, but the Spanish giants must overcome a 2-1 defeat against Manchester City on August 7 to qualify for the quarter finals.

He was also asked about the Ballon d’Or, a trophy he has always dreamed about winning. “You always think of the Ballon d’Or when you are a professional footballer and when you are competitive. I never try to define myself by my playing position, as a number nine or not a number nine, as 10 or 11; I am a football player and I try to be the best player in the world.”
