Manchester City and Valencia are closing in on an agreement for winger Ferran Torres, reports BBC and several other big outlets. The English giants are reportedly paying an initial €23m which could rise to €35m through a series of bonuses. Torres will be the direct replacement for Leroy Sane, who completed a move to Bayern Munich earlier this month.
The young Spanish winger has one-year left on his contract at financial troubled Valencia, who are expected to be having a massive clear-out this summer. While the club wanted to offer Torres a new deal, it is believed the winger had set his sight on a transfer. Earlier Torres had been linked with Manchester United and Real Madrid.
Torres will be City’s first summer signing in a transfer window where City is expected to spend some serious cash. Pep Guardiola wants to strengthen his squad and is targeting at least one centre-back, with John Stones and Nicolas Otamendi possibly leaving the club this summer. Bournemouth’s Nathan Ake has being tipped as City’s main target.
