Bayern and Alaba fail to reach agreement as contract talks are stalled

David Alaba‘s future at Bayern Munich has become more uncertain after the Austrian has failed to reach an agreement on a new contract. German outlet Bild reports that while the versatile defender wants to stay at the Allianz Arena his personal demands are too high. It is believed the talks have been stopped for now and should resume once the season is over.

These developments have alerted Manchester City and Real Madrid, who are both interested in signing Alaba if he would be available this summer. The defender’s current deal will expire at the end of next season and Bayern could decide to sell him if he doesn’t lower his wage demands, which are reportedly at €20m per-year.

Manchester City are looking to be the hot favourites to sign Alaba due to the presence of Pep Guardiola. The Spaniard has worked with Alaba in the past and has a good relationship with the player as Guardiola helped him develop into a world-class and versatile player. Despite the news from Germany, Manchester City have decided to push through their interest for Bournemouth’s Nathan Ake.
