Edinson Cavani has appeared on the radar of Bayern Munich. The 33-year-old could be signed by the German giants as a backup striker for Robert Lewandowski. Cavani is a free agent after he left Paris Saint-Germain after his contract expired last month.
With Lewandowski Bayern have the best centre forward of the world in their squad, but the Bundesliga champions feel they need a solid backup for the 31-year-old. Last season Thomas Muller incidentally played as a striker as well as young Dutch forward Joshua Zirkzee, who is only 19-years-old. While the youngster did impress with four goals in the Bundesliga, Bayern want to add an experienced backup for Lewandowski.
Cavani could prove to be the ideal player to backup Lewandowski at Bayern. The veteran Uruguayan international has experience at the highest level and became Paris Saint-Germain’s club record goal scorer last season. The former Napoli forward is one of the best goalscorers in Europe and he would be willing to play second fiddle behind Lewandowski if he could join a club which could win the Champions League next season.
