Jan Vertonghen not ruling out extended Premier League stay

Jan Vertonghen could be continuing his career in the Premier League after he left Tottenham Hotspur earlier this week. The 33-year-old Belgian international is looking for a new club after he decided to leave Tottenham at the end of his contract. Vertonghen is a free agent and is therefore free to decide on his future.

Several clubs have been linked with Vertonghen, including Manchester City and Internazionale. “I’m considering the options and making a good choice”,he told Sky Sports. “That will be out probably sooner rather than later. Obviously the window now is longer than it was last year, so we’ve got a bit of time to assess the best option.”

When asked if he would be open to join another English club, he said: “It will all depend on the options. I’ve got something in my head and we’ll see if that will come around or not.” Vertonghen joined Tottenham in 2012 from Ajax and has played 232 games for Spurs in the Premier League and 315 games across all competitions.
