Inter president holds talks with Lionel Messi over potential move

La Gazetta dello Sport has reported that Internazionale owner Steven Zhang has held talks with Lionel Messi‘s representatives over a potential move and he has talked about the transfer with FC Barcelona president Josep Maria Bartomeu. The report outlines the options Inter has to sign the Argentinian star forward.

If Inter want to sign Messi, he will have to terminate his relationship with Barcelona. And while he has doubts over his future with the club, he has not made an official transfer request. Also, it seems unlikely that Barcelona will accept any bids for their star player and it seems they would rather have him leave on a free transfer next summer instead of selling him while he is under contract.

If Messi does decides to leave Barcelona int he future, Inter are prepared to offer the forward a smashing €260m in wages over a four year period, which should be around €50m net a year. Zhang is representing Suning and the Asian company could be willing to take on a large part of the wages as it could be very interesting for them to use Messi for their marketing in both Asia and Europe.
