Napoli have completed the signing of Victor Osimhen from OSC Lille. The Italians have confirmed that the Nigerian international has signed a multi-year contract with the club. It is reported that Napoli will pay a €50m transfer fee for Osimhen and that fee can rise through a series of bonuses, making Osimhen the most expensive player in the club’s history.
The former record at Napoli was held by Gonzalo Higuain, who joined the club for a €39m transfer fee from Real Madrid. Osimhen’s arrival looks to be the starting point for Arek Milik’s departure. The Polish forward will enter the final year of his contract next season and Napoli is looking to sell the Polish forward during the summer with Juventus interested in signing Milik.
Osimhen had his breakout season at OSC Lille last season, scoring 18 goals in 38 Ligue 1 appearances. The striker had been linked with several clubs from the Premier League, including Manchester United and Newcastle United. His transfer to Napoli has been expected for weeks but after Osimhen switched agents, Napoli and the player had to renegotiate the terms of the contract.
