Tuchel still hoping on Kylian Mbappe: ‘Even if it would be a miracle’

Thomas Tuchel has not given up hope that Kylian Mbappe will be fit in time to face Atalanta in the quarter final of the Champions League. The Paris Saint-Germain star forward suffered a severe sprained ankle during the Parisian’s 1-0 Coupe de France final win over Saint-Etienne and was later on ruled out for the quarter final.

However, Tuchel has not expressed his hopes of using Mbappe in the match in August. β€œI still have hope, but it’s very feeble,” Tuchel said at a press conference. “He’s healing himself, every hour that passes can be important, even if it would take a miracle to see him on the pitch against Atalanta.”

Adding Mbappe to his squad would be a massive boost for Tuchel as PSG are hoping to reach their first ever Champions League semi-final. The French giants will face Atalanta, who have been impressing in both the Serie A and in the Champions League. The Italians could also reach the semi-finals for the first time in their club history as they even made their Champions League debut this season.
