Tuchel still hoping on Kylian Mbappe: ‘Even if it would be a miracle’

Thomas Tuchel has not given up hope that Kylian Mbappe will be fit in time to face Atalanta in the quarter final of the Champions League. The Paris Saint-Germain star forward suffered a severe sprained ankle during the Parisian’s 1-0 Coupe de France final win over Saint-Etienne and was later on ruled out for the quarter final.

However, Tuchel has not expressed his hopes of using Mbappe in the match in August. “I still have hope, but it’s very feeble,” Tuchel said at a press conference. “He’s healing himself, every hour that passes can be important, even if it would take a miracle to see him on the pitch against Atalanta.”

Adding Mbappe to his squad would be a massive boost for Tuchel as PSG are hoping to reach their first ever Champions League semi-final. The French giants will face Atalanta, who have been impressing in both the Serie A and in the Champions League. The Italians could also reach the semi-finals for the first time in their club history as they even made their Champions League debut this season.
