Arsenal have won the FA Cup. The Gunners beat Chelsea 2-1 at Wembley as Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang scored both goals for Arsenal. Christian Pulisic opened the score after five minutes but two goals from Aubameyang proved to be enough for Arsenal to win the FA Cup. By winning the final Arsenal have also secured Europa League football for next season.
The Gabon striker equalised for Arsenal with a penalty he had won himself to cancel out Pulisic’s early opener. After the Gunners tied the game, Chelsea were forced to make two substitutions as both Cesar Azpilicueta and Pulisic suffered injuries and had to come off the field. In the second half Aubameyang added his second of the night to secure a 2-1 victory before lifting a record 14th FA Cup for the Gunners.
After Arsenal took the lead Chelsea saw Mateo Kovacic being sent off. The Croatia international picked up two bookings, both for fouls on Granit Xhaka. Winning the FA Trophy means the first piece of silverware for Mikel Arteta in his managerial career and it will also be the highlight of a rather dark season for the Gunners after they finished eighth in the Premier League and were knocked out of the Europa League in the first knock-out round.
