Lyon coach confident of result against Juventus after PSG draw

Despite losing on penalties to Paris Saint-Germain in the Coupe de la Ligue, Olympique Lyon manager Rudi Garcia was happy with the performance of his team. The French boss is already looking ahead to their Champions League match against Juventus and Garcia insists that his side can be confident ahead of the second leg in the round of 16.

The match against PSG ended in a goalless 0-0 draw, as Lyon eventually lost on penalties due to a miss by Bertrand Traore. “Only losing to PSG on penalties suggests we put in a good performance,” said Garcia in his press conference. We could’ve done better, but they only made the difference in a technical exercise, and even then the shoot-out went to sudden death.”

“In the Champions League, it will be important to do better in attack, but it’s a good foundation to build on ahead of the Juventus match. Now we need to do psychological work with the players to make them understand we leave this Final with our heads held high, taking the positives and using those to reach the Champions League quarter-final.”

“I saw the right attitude against PSG and we were well-organised against a team that was constructed to win the Champions League. That has to give us confidence going into the Juve game.” The first match between Juventus and Lyon finished in a 1-0 win for the French side, giving them a slight upper hand for the return in Turin next week.
