Manchester City and FC Barcelona have been in talks over the past few weeks. The clubs have interest in each other’s players and have been seeking contract throughout more than once. One of the players the clubs have been talking about is Sergi Roberto. The Spanish utility player is wanted by Pep Guardiola as the manager hopes he could be added into a player plus cash deal with Eric Garcia.
However, Barcelona would rather add Nelson Semedo to the offer as the club still feels that Sergi Roberto is one of the club’s key players and a true Blaugrana. The interest from City is not new for Barcelona. The English club has been asking about his availability for over a year, especially during the January window. The coronavirus pandemic then stopped the talks, reports Sport.
But now that Barcelona have shown interest in Garcia, City’s interest in Roberto has been reignited. The English giants are prepared to allow Garcia to move back to his boyhood club but only if Barcelona are willing to accept to add the young Spanish defender into a deal for Roberto. With Roberto’s deal running out in 2022, Barcelona could decide to cash in for the 28-year-old.
