OSC Lille sign Turkish striker Buruk Yilmaz and Mexican midfielder

French side OSC Lille have signed Turkish striker Buruk Yilmaz. The 35-year-old has signed a two-year contract with the club joining them on a free transfer from Besiktas. On Friday Lille confirmed that they had sold Victor Osimhen to Napoli in which is believed to be a club-record €80m transfer.

Lille’s CEO Marc Ingla welcomed his new signing at the club: “The club is really proud and happy to welcome a player like Burak Yilmaz. He is a real striker, who is present in the area and skillful in front of goal. He is an experienced player and a true legend in Turkey. He has the perfect profile to strengthen our squad, fit into our model of play and bring his life to the team.”

Yilmaz started his career with Antalyaspor, before moving to Besiktas in 2008. He then served Fenerbahce, Trabzonspor and Galatasary in Turkey before moving to Chinese club Bejing Goan. In 2019 he returned to Turkey to rejoin Besiktas. The 35-year-old made 25 Super Lig appearances this season, scoring 13 goals and providing 7 assists.

The club has also announced the signing of 18-year-old Mexican midfielder Eugenio Puga from Pachuca. The youngster grew up in New Zealand playing for Wellington Phoenix and completed a move to Mexican side Pachuca in 2017. Earlier this year he made his professional debut for the Mexicans. Lille have not made any comments on the length of Puga’s contract.
