FC Barcelona will be rewarding Ansu Fati for his development during his breakout season with the club. The 17-year-old made his debut last summer and ended up making 24 LaLiga appearances, scoring seven goals. The winger is currently on a youth contract, but Sport claim that Barcelona are keen on tying him down on the long-term.
According to the report representatives of Fati will meet with the club in the next couple of weeks to talk about fresh terms which would extend his contract beyond his current expiry date of 2022. The club also has the intention to increase his buyout clause, which will be risen to around €300m.
There have been talks going around the Nou Camp that Fati and his management were unhappy with the lack of reward from the club. It led to rumours that the young forward would be open to find a new club. It is also believed that super agent Jorge Mendes contacted Fati to let them know he could find a new club with a big contract.
However, Barcelona never want to negotiate a deal for Fati and pointed both Mendes and interested clubs to his €100m buy-out clause. And now Barcelona have decided they are not considering any offers for Fati as they want to offer him a new contract which should reflect their acknowledgement for his breakout season.
