Borussia Dortmund and Manchester United are closing in on an agreement for Jadon Sancho, German outlet Bild reports. The England winger has been United’s top target for the entire summer but with Dortmund holding on to their €120m asking price a transfer seemed to be unlikely. However, it is now believed that Dortmund and United are close to agreeing terms.
Bild outlines the structure of the deal: United will pay €70m this summer, then another €30m next summer and a final payment of €20m in the summer of 2022. This structure is about the same as Dortmund and FC Barcelona agreed on when they agreed a deal for Ousmane Dembele and the report from Bild claims that this could also be the case for the Sancho deal.
Dortmund are ready to accept the deal as they realise that United or any other club will not be able to pay them the €120m this summer due to the coronacrisis pandemic. It is also stated that Dortmund do not care how they receive the €120m as long as they receive their full asking price. Meanwhile, United are keen on getting a deal this summer as they want to avoid other clubs joining the race for the former Manchester City winger.
