The agent of Sergi Roberto has cooled down the rumours linking his client to a move to Manchester City. The Spanish utility player was linked with a move away from FC Barcelona past week with Manchester City being put forward as a possible destination. However, his agent Josep Maria Orobitg denied the links.
“Sergi Roberto has no plans to leave Barça”, he told Onda Cero. “Now there are no clubs showing interest and Barça has not submitted any proposals for the player to us.” The 28-year-old has been a first team regular at the Nou Camp for the past seasons, playing as a right fullback and as a central midfielder.
It was believed that Pep Guardiola had marked Roberto to join Man City this summer for his versatility. The Spanish manager is looking to strengthen both his defense and midfield and would feel that Roberto is the perfect player to fill those vacancies. Meanwhile Barcelona and City keep on talking about defender Eric Garcia, who is keen on rejoining the Spanish giants.
