Former Manchester United winger Angel Gomes has signed for Lille following his departure from the Red Devils last month, reports Sky Sports. The 19-year-old will not be playing for the Ligue 1 side next season as he will immediately go out on a season long loan to Portuguese club Boavista.
Gomes developed through the academy at Manchester United and much was expected from the youngster. He did make his debut for the club but he failed to develop himself into a first team regular under first Jose Mourinho and later Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. Gomes only made 5 Premier League appearances for United this season.
The lack of chances at the first team and the proposed arrival of Jadon Sancho made Gomes decide not to sign a new contract at Old Trafford. He has been linked with several English clubs, including Chelsea. It now seems that Gomes has signed a five-year contract at French side Lille, who have not made a statement or confirmed Gomes has signed.
