Barcelona ties down Ter Stegen with new five-year contract

FC Barcelona have managed to reach a personal agreement with Marc-Andre Ter Stegen on a contract renewal. Transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano explains on his Twitter account that the Blaugranas and the goalkeeper have agreed terms on a new deal. An announcement is expected for the end of the week ahead of Barcelona’s Champions League match against Napoli.

Earlier on Barcelona already made Ter Stegen’s renewal their top priority. The club was keen on extending the deal of the German international as rumours about his Nou Camp future emerged, linking him to Chelsea. Ter Stegen will sign a contract until the summer of 2025, extending his current deal with three extra seasons and a big wage hike to match.

Ter Stegen joined Barcelona in 2014 in a €12m move from Borrusia Monchengladbach. After two difficult seasons for the Spanish giants, Ter Stegen has been one of Barcelona’s key performers. He is currently considered as one of the club’s leading players behind Lionel Messi, Sergio Busquets and Gerard Pique.
