Juventus President Andrea Agnelli has insisted that Cristiano Ronaldo will be staying on in Turin next season. The Portuguese super star scored two goals against Olympique Lyon on Friday helping his side claim a 2-1 win over the French side. However, after a 1-0 defeat earlier this year the Italians have been knocked out of the Champions League.
It is the second time Juventus have left the tournament earlier than expected after being knocked out by Ajax in the quarter final last season. After Juve’s exit in the Champions League there have been rumours that Ronaldo would be considering to leave the club. However, Agnelli is adamant that the forward will stay on next season.
“He’s going to stay with us,” Agnelli told Sky Sport of Ronaldo. “I’m sure that Cristiano will play for Juventus next season. He’s a pillar of this team.” Ronaldo has been in great form for Juventus this season, scoring 31 goals in the Serie A as the Bianconeri claimed their ninth consecutive Serie A title. Ronaldo’s contract with Juventus runs until the summer of 2022.
