Juventus have decided to part ways with Maurizio Sarri less than 24 hours after the club was knocked out of the Champions League by Olympique Lyon. The club posted on their official website and their social media channels an official statement that Sarri has left the club after a single season.
The club’s board held a meeting on Saturday morning to discuss the future of their had coach and after several hours they have decided that it is best that the two parties will part ways after just one season. Sarri did manage to win the Serie A title, but Juventus’ form over the season has not been impressive.
A statement on the club’s official website read: “Juventus Football Club announces that Maurizio Sarri has been relieved of his post as coach of the First Team. The club would like to thank the coach for having written a new page in Juventus’ history with the victory of the ninth-consecutive championship, the culmination of a personal journey that led him to climb all the divisions of Italian footballT”
There are several names that have been put forward already by the Italian media to replace Sarri at Juventus. Lazio‘s Simone Inzaghi is considered as a favourite while Real Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane is also a dream candidate for the club. Meanwhile Mauricio Pochettino’s name has also been put forward. The Argentinian is looking for a new club since he was sacked by Tottenham in November.
