Napoli coach Gennaro Gattuso joked around after hearing Juventus appointed Andrea Pirlo as the replacement of Maurizio Sarri. The former Italian midfielder was appointed as Juve’s U23 manager last week but the received an unexpected promotion as the first team manager. Gattuso has welcomed his former Italy and AC Milan teammate/
“Well he’s screwed now… That’s the job,” laughed Gattuso. “He’s lucky to be starting at Juventus, but this profession is one where a great playing career is not enough. You have to study, to work hard, and you don’t get much sleep.” Pirlo has no experience as a manager and Gattuso shares some of the hard work that is expected from a manager.
“Being a player and being a coach is really not the same thing at all. It’s a totally different profession and we can’t learn it just from books, we need to get in there and work hard. It’s a different world.” Pirlo has been given a three-year contract with the Bianconeri as the former midfielder will be given the task to win Juventus their 10th consecutive title in the Serie A and to win the Champions League.
