Borussia Dortmund have ended all speculations surrounding Jadon Sancho. The English winger will be staying with the club next season after the transfer deadline set by Dortmund expired on Monday. Manchester United were heavily interested in signing Sancho but the Red Devils have failed to land the England international.
“Jadon Sancho will play for us in the upcoming season. The decision is final,” Dortmund sporting director Michael Zorc told reporters on Monday. “I think that answers all your questions.” And that is not all as the director confirmed that Sancho signed a ‘secret’ new contract with the club last summer.
“Last summer we already raised Jadon’s wage to fit his development. In connection with that, we extended his contract to 2023.” Reports from Germany suggest that no release clause has been included in the deal, giving Dortmund the freedom to ask what they want for Sancho. Man United have been linked with Sancho but weren’t willing to meet Dortmund’s €120m asking price.
