RB Leipzig coach Julian Nagelsmann reveals that he has been offered the chance to manage Real Madrid in the past. The German coach could have become the youngest ever coach to work at the Spanish giants after Zinedine Zidane decided to leave his position in the summer of 2018.
Talking to Marca, Nagelsmann said: “We had calls, but I was the one who decided in the end. I didn’t think it was the right step to go to Real Madrid. I was one of the candidates and that was important for me.” Nagelsmann currently is 33-years-old and would have been 31 if he had decided to accept the offer from Madrid.
Despite rejecting their offer in 2018, Nagelsmann could accept an offer from Madrid in the future. “I had a good chat with (Real vice-president) Jose Angel Sanchez and we agreed that it wasn’t yet the right move. We agreed that we could speak again in the future if Real Madrid were to need a coach and if I were available.”
