West Ham United have dismissed reports that Chelsea have made a €55m offer for in-demand midfielder Declan Rice, reports Sky Sports. The Hammers already insisted that the England international is not for sale this summer and that they will reject any offer that the club receives.
West Ham manager David Moyes wants to build a team around Rice in the coming years and the midfielder has a long-term contract until the summer of 2024 with an option for another season. Rice will be returning to West Ham next week to start with preseason training with the rest of his teammates.
Chelsea are reportedly very interested in bringing Rice to Stamford Bridge this summer as Frank Lampard wants to use the 21-year-old as a ball-playing defender. However, with West Ham’s stance it seems very unlikely that Rice will be rejoining the club he played for as a teenager.
