Ronald Koeman wants Dutch internationals to sign for FC Barcelona

Ronald Koeman is set to be named as the new coach of FC Barcelona. After the coach already reached a personal agreement with the Spanish club, an agreement with the Dutch football association KNVB is reportedly close. After completing his move to Barcelona Koeman wants his new club to sign two Dutch internationals.

The first player Koeman wants to bring to the Nou Camp is Donny van de Beek. The Ajax midfielder has been linked with moves to Real Madrid and Manchester United in the past and Koeman feels that Barcelona could use the box-to-box midfielder next season. Ajax are prepared to sell Van de Beek for a reported €40m fee.

And Koeman has requested Barcelona to make a move for another Dutch international with Georginio Wijnaldum being a favourite of the new Barca head coach. The Liverpool midfielder will be out of contract in 2021 at Anfield and there have been rumours that he wants to leave the club if Liverpool manages to sign Thiago Alcantara from Bayern Munich.

The 29-year-old Wijnaldum has been one of the key players in Jurgen Klopp’s side that won both the Champions League and Premier League in the past two seasons and it is likely that the German is reluctant to sell Wijnaldum. However, with an expiring contract and the lack of contract talks the former PSV captain could be on the move this summer.
