Gerard Pique has the option to make a shock return to the Premier League if the Spaniard is forced out of FC Barcelona this summer. Spanish outlet Libero has linked Pique with a move to newly promoted Fulham, who have reportedly contacted the defender’s agent to talk about a possible transfer back to England.
Pique opened the door on a potential exit at Barcelona after the Spanish giants were humiliated by Bayern Munich in the quarter final of the Champions League (8-2). After the game he stated: “If the club wants me to leave this summer to rebuild the squad next season that is what I will accept.”
These comments have alerted many clubs in Europe, but it seems that Fulham has been the only club to have made contact with Pique’s agent. The 33-year-old defender has an history in the Premier League as he made 12 appearances for Manchester United in the 05/06 and 07/08 seasons. He moved back to Barcelona in 2008 in a €5m transfer.
