Tottenham Hotspur in ‘advanced talks’ for Wolves starlet Matt Doherty

Tottenham Hotspur are very close to completing the transfer of Wolverhampton Wanderers starlet Matt Doherty. Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has claimed on social media that the two clubs have reached the ‘advanced stage’ in their negotiations for a deal for the 28-year-old right defender which is believed to be in the €25m area.

Tottenham boss Jose Mourinho is believed to be very keen to add a new right-back to his squad as the Portuguese manager is unimpressed with the qualities of Serge Aurier. Doherty has been one of Wolves’ major stars in the Premier League over the past two seasons and it is believed he would be keen on making the jump to Tottenham.

Ireland international Doherty joined Wolves in 2010 in a transfer from Bohemians worth around €90.000. After several loan spells he has been a first team regular for the club since 2013 and he has managed to make 302 appearances for the first team, scoring 28 goals and contributing 41 assists for the team.
