Atletico Madrid are keen on offloading Diego Costa this summer. The Spanish international once was considered as one of the best strikers in Europe but injuries and a decline in form have dropped him down the pecking order at the Spanish club. Several newspapers in the UK report that Tottenham Hotspur have been offered the services of Costa.
Jose Mourinho has been looking to sign a back-up striker for Harry Kane this summer. The England international suffered a muscle injury in November 2019 and Mourinho was often quoted that he did not have sufficient cover for Kane. The Portuguese manager has worked with Costa at Chelsea, winning two Premier League titles together.
With one year left to his contract in Madrid Costa could be up for grabs for a bargain price by Tottenham and that could be music to Mourinho’s ears. In the meantime the 31-year-old could be accepting a back-up role at Tottenham Hotspur behind Kane, handing Mourinho his long-wanted striker. Costa has also been linked with a move to Portuguese giants Benfica in recent weeks.
