Ajax are ready to sell midfielder Donny van de Beek. The Dutch international was left out the club’s squad for their preseason friendly against Eintracht Frankfurt (2-1 win) and before the game Erik ten Hag revealed that the midfielder is on his way towards the exit. Van de Beek has been linked with Manchester United and FC Barcelona in recent weeks.
The Ajax boss told Ziggo Sport when asked for a transfer update ahead of a friendly date with Eintracht Frankfurt: “There have been some developments that made us decide us to keep him out of today’s squad. We will see what happens. We’ll make an announcement as soon as there’s some clarity.”
It is believed that the Eredivisie giants are asking around €55m for Van de Beek, who is considered as one of the clubs best players. Last year the midfielder was linked with a move to Real Madrid, who even had reached a personal agreement with Van de Beek. The effect of the coronavirus pandemic then canceled the transfer and now the midfielder could be joining Real’s arch rivals Barcelona.
