Donny van de Beek has left the training camp of the Netherlands national team to complete his transfer to Manchester United. The Ajax midfielder was allowed to skip training on Monday and he is currently on his way to Schiphol airport where he will board a plane to Manchester. He will arrive at around 20:00 English time before undergoing a medical. It is unclear if Van de Beek will undergo a medical tonight or tomorrow morning.
Dutch outlet NOS report that Van de Beek was spotted leaving the Dutch camp in Zeist at the KNVB headquarters before driving off to the airport. In Manchester the midfielder will be finalising the negotiations for a five-year contract at Old Trafford before he will sign his contract and complete the transfer. Reports claim that United and Ajax have agreed on a €40m transfer fee.
It is believed that the transfer also includes a series of bonuses, which could lead to the total value of the transfer reach €45m. Van de Beek has developed through the youth academy at Ajax, making his debut for the club in 2015. He has played 175 games for the first team, scoring 41 goals and providing 34 assists. Van de Beek was one of the stars of the Ajax team that reached the semi-final of the Champions League in their successful 2018-19 season.
