Donny van de Beek‘s father Andre has confirmed that the Ajax midfielder is set to complete a transfer to Manchester United. Talking to Dutch outlet Omroep Gelderland he told that a transfer to Manchester is ‘a dream come true’ and that the transfer comes ‘at a perfect time’ in Van de Beek’s career. United and Ajax are expected to confirm the transfer on Monday or Tuesday and it is believed the Red Devils will pay around €55m for Van de Beek.
Van de Beek senior is delighted that his son will be playing in the Premier League next season but also insists that Ajax will remain his favourite club. “Ajax is in our hearts”, he said. “I think we will never be finished with Ajax. If he would have played there for another ten years we would also be very happy including Donny himself.” Van de Beek has a contract until the summer of 2022 but will not be finishing his deal with the Dutch giants.
And the midfielder’s father already looking forward at seeing his son playing in the Premier League next season, especially the games at Old Trafford. “But the away games as well”, he quickly adds. “We have been in Manchester and it is looking beautiful”, said his father, who also confirmed Van de Beek had options at other clubs: “But Donny made the decision himself.”
