Rafael van der Vaart says Donny van de Beek and Manchester United could be a perfect match. Reports on the Red Devils preparing an announcement for the transfer of the Ajax midfielder have intensified and there are now many outlets that have reported that the transfer is nearing its completion. Former Tottenham Hotspur star Van der Vaart is expecting much from Van de Beek if he does complete a move to Manchester this week.
“Donny deserves this transfer so much,” Van der Vaart told Dutch outlet NOS. “He has played excellent for Ajax. And Manchester United really need this kind of player in their team. This transfer is fantastic for us [Dutch people] too. We are all going to follow him now. This move is so deserved.” It is reported that Ajax and Manchester United are close to agreeing a €50m transfer.
Van de Beek has developed himself through the youth academy at Ajax, joining the club as an 11-year-old. In 2015 he made his first team debut at the Dutch giants and since that moment he has made 175 appearances, scoring 41 goals and providing 34 assists. In recent weeks Van de Beek has also been linked with a move to Spanish rivals Real Madrid and FC Barcelona.
