Donny van de Beek is set to complete a transfer from Ajax to Manchester United. The Dutch midfielder successfully underwent a medical on Monday and is currently awaiting the paper work to be finalised between the clubs. Once his transfer is complete, Ajax will receive around €45m from the English giants and that sum could be used to lure Luis Suarez back to Amsterdam.
Ajax technical director Marc Overmars recently told Dutch media that the chances of Suarez joining the club were ‘very slim’. However, it is now believed that Ajax will be able to use the transfer fee they receive for Van de Beek to finance a possible move for Suarez. Reports claim that Ajax would like to offer Suarez to keep his salary he earns at FC Barcelona: €14m.
In the meantime Suarez has been in talks with Juventus and Paris Saint-Germain as he is expected to leave Barcelona before the end of the transfer window. The two European giants could out-bid Ajax without any problems, but the Uruguayan striker has always said he wanted to return to Amsterdam at the end of his career after he enjoyed a very successful spell with Ajax before joining Liverpool.
