Toni Kroos praises Zinedine Zidane: ‘Incredibly good at managing team full of stars’

Toni Kroos has praised Zinedine Zidane as ‘the best coach Real Madrid could ask for’. Zidane has entered the second stint as manager at the Spanish giants as he lead them to their first LaLiga win since 2017. During Zidane’s first spell as manager at Madrid he won three consecutive Champions Leagues and one LaLiga title. Kroos feels Zidane is the perfect coach for his club.

Kroos told Blick that it helps that Zidane was a world-class player himself. “It helps that he was a great player himself. He knows exactly what makes them tick and what it’s like to be a Real Madrid player. He applies this knowledge superbly. He’s incredibly good at managing this group of stars. He meets every player at eye level, brings everyone on board and has everything around Real under control. And he is also very good technically. He’s the best coach you could ask for.”

Kroos joined Real Madrid shortly after he and Germany won the World Cup in the summer of 2014. Since joining he has made 278 appearances for the club. “I was then lucky enough to come to Madrid as a newly crowned world champion,” Kroos added. “But that I’ve been here for six years and won the Champions League three times in a row, that was more than I had hoped.”
