Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta has told reporters he is unaware of the transfer speculations linking Matteo Guendouzi away from the club this summer. The French midfielder has been frozen out by Arteta ever since his fallout with the manager and several opponents in the Premier League match against Brighton & Hove Albion last season. It was expected that Guendouzi would be leaving the club but Arteta insists that Guendouzi still has a future with the club.
Arteta said, “Matteo has been training like any other player in the squad. It is a new season and we had some really positive conversations between both parties, now he’s back with the group, he is training really well, he went to France to play with the under-21s last week and played really well again, and he is here.”
It has been speculated that Arsenal have been offering the midfielder out to several clubs in Europe, including Paris Saint-Germain. Asked on the speculations, Arteta said: “I don’t know, I am not going to discuss here what the things that happened internally. But a lot of the things they have been writing, I can tell you they are not true.”
