Gareth Bale has decided he wants to leave Real Madrid this transfer window despite earlier reports that he intended to see out his contract at the Spanish club until the summer of 2022. ESPN claim that Bale had a change of heart after he was alerted of the interest of both Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur. The winger would be keen on reviving his career in the Premier League.
The 31-year-old Bale had a difficult season at Madrid as injuries kept him from making his mark in the first half of the season. Later on he was frozen out by Zinedine Zidane and he would only play 12 minutes after the lockdown from the coronavirus was lifted in June. Real wanted Bale to quit the club but the winger had no intention of being bullied out of the club.
But with the interest from two clubs in the Premier League Bale has now made a dramatic U-turn and he is now ready to quit Madrid. Reports claim that Madrid are open to sell Bale for a bargain €25m and that they are prepared to pay a large part of his wages for the next two seasons if he does accept to leave. ESPN report that Tottenham are currently in the lead to sign Bale.
