Mario Mandzukic will not be making a return to the Serie A next season. Turkish newspaper Fanatik has reported that the Croatian has decided to sign a contract at Fenerbahçe. It is believed that Mandzukic has accepted to sign a multi-year contract with the Turkish giants as he rejected possible moves to Fiorentina and Benevento.
The 34-year-old left Juventus in January on a free transfer to join up with Al-Duhail. He would play five games before the competition in Qatar was postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic. Mandzukic and the club then decided to end the forward’s contract in July and the Croatian was then able to find a new club as a free agent.
From that moment Mandzukic had been linked with several clubs in the Serie A, including Fiorentina and newly promoted Benevento. The club led by former AC Milan and Juventus striker Filippo Inzaghi are ambitious and had hoped Mandzukic would help them avoid relegation from the Serie A next campaign. However, the forward now appears to be on his way to the Turkish Super Lig.
