PSG and Marseille players could face massive bans following full-scale brawl

Several players of Paris Saint-Germain and Olympique Marseille could be facing massive bans following a brawl during Sunday’s Ligue 1 clash between the two teams. Angel Di Maria and Alvaro Gonzalez are the two players who could be facing the longest bans, while PSG’s Leandro Paredes, Neymar and Laywin Kurzawa and Marseille’s Dario Benedetto and Jordan Amavi could be facing short-term bans following their red cards.

In the final minutes of the game a full-scale brawl broke out on the pitch, forcing referee Jerome Brisard to pull a total of five red cards. Neymar was sent off for slapping Alvaro Gonzalez on the back of the head, having had several incidents during the match. While Neymar left the pitch the Brazilian accused the Spaniard of racial abuse, which was heard by the pitch-side microphones.

The alleged abuse by Gonzalez is being investigated by the French football association for his comments to Neymar. The FFF is also investigating the alleged spitting of Di Maria. The incident wasn’t seen by the referee but after the game Marseille boss Andre Villas-Boas told reporters that the Argentinian spitted against one of his players.
