Bayern Munich boss Hansi Flick has confirmed that Thiago Alcantara will complete a move to Liverpool before the weekend. Earlier on Thursday there were several reports that the two clubs had reached an agreement on the transfer of the 29-year-old Spanish international and now Flick has confirmed that Thiago is on his way to Liverpool.
Talking to reporters ahead of Bayern’s first Bundesliga game of the season against Schalke, Flick said: “Thiago is an exceptional player who spent seven hugely successful years here. He’s a wonderful person and an outstanding professional. It was very emotional today when he said goodbye to us all. My coaching team and I enjoyed working with him. I can only congratulate Liverpool as they got a great player and especially a great person.”
Thiago is expected to arrive in Liverpool on Friday to complete his move to the Premier League champions. There have been several reports on the transfer fee as it is expected to be somewhere between €22m and €30m. During his seven years at Bayern, Thiago won seven Bundesliga titles and finished his Bayern career of by winning the famous treble: Bundesliga, DFB Pokal and Champions League.
