Dele Alli dropped by Spurs for Europa League clash amid Madrid links

Dele Alli will not feature for Tottenham Hotspur on Thursday as the Londoners will take on Lokomotiv Plovdiv in the Europa League. The England international has been dropped from the match day squad by Jose Mourinho. The club has not made an official statement on leaving Alli out of the team but the rumour mill has been suggesting that he will be sidelined due to a possible transfer to Real Madrid.

The midfielder has not been in form for Tottenham during the past six months and he was withdrawn at half-time in Spurs’ 1-0 defeat to Everton over the weekend. After the game Mourinho was very critical of his players and suggested that some of his stars were ‘very lazy’. It has been suggested that the Portuguese manager was referring to Alli.

It is possible that Alli will be used in a swap transfer with Gareth Bale. The Welsh winger has been in talks with Tottenham for the past few days and it has already been suggested that there has been an agreement on a possible loan transfer. However, with Alli moving to Real Madrid it seems likely that there will be a full player swap.
