FC Barcelona will not be pushing through their interest for Max Aarons. The Spaniards are in the market for a new right-back after they managed to sell Nelson Semedo to Wolverhampton Wanderers. Aarons has been on Barcelona’s wish list and there had even been reports that the English full-back had already agreed on personal terms. However, after hearing Norwich City’s asking price Barcelona have decided to drop their interest.
Barcelona have collected around €30m for Semedo and they wish to use that money to re-invest in a new young defender. Aarons was high on their list but Norwich want at least €40m despite their relegation from the Premier League. Aarons has a contract until the summer of 2024, which gives Norwich the power to demand a hefty asking price.
That means Barcelona will switch their interest to Ajax full-back Sergino Dest. The USA international has been linked with the Spaniards earlier but it seemed that he preferred a move to Bayern Munich. The Germans have not made an official approach for Dest and that has put Barcelona in pole position to sign the youngster. It is believed that Ajax want around €25m for Dest.
