Liverpool have entered the race to sign Kalidou Koulibaly from Napoli. The Senegal defender has been long-linked with Manchester City and he even reportedly reached a personal agreement with the club. Paris Saint-Germain have also been linked with the defender, but reports now claim that Liverpool have appeared and are considered the front-runners in the hunt for Koulibaly as they consider him to be an ideal partner for Virgil van Dijk.
Le Parisien now claim that Liverpool have a secret weapon named Sadio Mane. The Liverpool star is a good friend of Koulibaly and both players play in the Senegal national team. The report suggests that Liverpool have asked Mane to contact Koulibaly to convince him to pick a move to Liverpool ahead of a transfer to Manchester or Paris.
At this point it remains unclear where the future of Koulibaly lies. Napoli are open to sell the 29-year-old defender but have reportedly put a €90m price tag around his neck. This has put PSG off and the Parisians are not expected to make an offer for Koulibaly. Liverpool and Man City are interested but are hoping to convince Napoli to lower their demands.
